Before I decided which color of Oura Ring 5 I wanted, I made sure to use the sizing kit.
Oura recommends this regardless of whether you’ve owned an Oura Ring before or not, as the Oura Ring 5 is sized slightly differently than before.
I chose a size 11, which is the same size as my Oura Ring 4 and Oura Ring 4 Ceramic, but I was a little concerned because the size 11 plastic ring felt better on my finger than the previous size 11 ring.
Now that the actual Oura Ring 5 is on my finger, this is actually happening.
I’ve always been between the size 10 and size 11 Oura Ring models before, making the larger options a little loose, but the new size 11 fits perfectly.
The important thing to know is that, even though they are smaller, they fit perfectly so they don’t show too much when you wear them.
Sure, I’ve worn the Oura Ring for five years, but I always knew the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic was on my finger.
The Oura Ring 5 is missing, and it all has to do with small changes in thickness and width.
The size and feel are very similar to normal rings, I think most viewers will be fooled. I barely felt it between my fingers, and basically forgot it was there.
If you want a health and fitness tracker that’s more undercover than the Fitbit Air, and less sporty, the Oura Ring 5 is for you.

This is what I mean about wondering where Oura could go with its hardware next.
Oura Ring 5 is thin and very light. I didn’t want it to be any lighter, because now it’s almost featherweight, and as it gets slimmer, it will stop being a high-tech piece of jewelry to wear and enjoy.
Reducing the thickness will make a big difference, but it’s not like wearing a big, thick bolt on your finger now.
Another area that can always be improved is materials and finishes.
I chose Desert Rose Oura Ring 5, the only new finish to this line, and I’m so glad I did.
It’s hard to say exactly how the copper layer looks in the picture, but it’s spot on. It’s masculine, but still has enough rose gold color to appeal to anyone who doesn’t want a full gold smart ring.
While I love the color, I’m less interested in returning to the titanium Oura Ring after spending months with the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic.

I think it’s just a matter of time
If the Oura Ring 5 is the pinnacle of Oura Ring design, then the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic is the pinnacle of Oura material. The end result looks new after six months of continuous wear, a feat impossible with the titanium Oura Ring 4.
The Oura Ring 5 isn’t available in ceramic yet, and I’m already reminded of the titanium issue.
It tarnishes easily, something that doesn’t happen with ceramic smart rings.
I like ceramic models that rarely need cleaning, but I’ve been soaping the Oura Ring 5 regularly to keep it dirt-free.
Then there are the scratches.
It is now free of them (only two days or so), but despite its smaller dimensions, it will soon rub against abrasive surfaces.
Oura indicates that the Oura Ring 5’s titanium shell will resist tarnish better than before, and I’m certainly hopeful about that.
Additionally, their smaller size means any markings may not be as visible.
However, I’ve felt and heard it make unfortunate contact with metal-bodied phones in ways that don’t sound pretty, suggesting it’s only a matter of time before it develops battle scars.
Same old data?
This requires more testing
While there aren’t any major changes to the hardware inside the Oura Ring 5, Oura says it may produce more accurate data compared to the Oura Ring 4.
With only a few days of wearing it, it’s been impossible to see any changes so far. I compared it to a lot of basic data in the Oura app and Fitbit Air.
The good news is, I haven’t seen any sudden changes, which suggests that things are still the same as before. I would be more concerned about accuracy if my key metrics showed dramatic changes in the near future.
The Oura Ring 4 is the best smart ring, and our recommendation to buy, and it’s likely that the Oura Ring 5 will take the crown. If you’re itching to buy one, I don’t think you’ll regret it.

The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm.
