Six years have passed since the COVID-19 pandemic. This caused major economic and social disruption throughout the world, changing people’s lives forever. Then there are also online meeting applications whose use has experienced a big spike during the pandemic. Many companies around the world are shifting to hybrid work mode, which is a mix of face-to-face collaboration and remote work.
Of course, Google Meet is one of the major video communication services that is gaining popularity as companies adopt new flexible work models. Google Meet has become one of the top online meeting tools as well thanks to the improvements the company has introduced to the service over the years. The Mountain View tech giant recently announced one more change to Google Meet.
Google will introduce major changes to the default settings for downloading Meet recordings
Google Meet currently doesn’t allow meeting participants to download or copy recorded videos by default. For meeting owners who don’t want viewers to download meeting recordings, the current default behavior should suit your needs, and you don’t need to change anything.
However, Google plans to change that in the next few weeks. Google will change the default for video recordings, requiring meeting owners to manually limit the download of meeting recordings. This change will only impact new records and not existing records.
If you don’t want viewers to be able to download or copy meeting recordings, you’ll need to uncheck them Allow Users to download and copy Meet Recordings option in the Admin console.
When you limit downloading of meeting recordings, it will also limit Ask Gemini’s audience, as in the current scenario. Ask Gemini functionality will only be available after the owner allows the download.
Google has no immediate plans to make this change. In their official Workspace Update, they confirmed that the default changes for meeting recording will begin rolling out on April 30, 2026. This rollout will be gradual and take up to 15 days to be available to everyone.
It’s also worth noting that the new rules for recording meetings in Google Meet are only available to people who subscribe to the following plans:
Business: Business Plus and Business Standard
Enterprise: Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Starter
Education: Education Plus and Enhanced Teaching and Learning
If you’re a subscriber to one of the above plans, you’ll need to uncheck “Allow Users to download and copy Meet Recordings” from your Meet video settings by April 30, 2026.
PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
