With Android 14 QPR1, Google introduced a feature that lets you use your Pixel phone as a webcam with your PC. Years later, Android manufacturers haven’t adopted this handy feature much. Samsung has finally stepped in by adding USB webcam mode support to the Galaxy S26 series.
There are many third-party Android apps that let you use your phone as a webcam with your PC. Amid the pandemic and taking inspiration from the iPhone’s Continuous Camera feature, Google added a similar option natively to the Pixel with Android 14 QPR1 in late 2023. Unfortunately, even after all these years, this feature is not yet available on most other Android phones.
With the Galaxy S26, Samsung has added support for USB webcam mode to its 2026 flagship phone (via Android Authority). This means you can use your phone as a webcam for video calls on your PC by simply connecting it using a USB cable.
It even includes a more powerful High Quality Mode that streams video at a higher bitrate for better quality. Since this mode consumes more power, your Galaxy S26 Ultra may get hot when this mode is activated.
The “Webcam” option will appear on the phone screen every time you connect it to your PC via USB cable.
Your Galaxy phone can also function as a wireless webcam
In the Samsung ecosystem, your Galaxy phone camera can be used as a webcam via the Camera Share feature. Unlike Google’s implementation, it works wirelessly, making it more convenient to use. However, this feature is limited to Samsung-branded PCs and tablets, severely limiting its reach.
The USB webcam mode feature is not available in One UI 8.5 beta for Galaxy S25. But Samsung may add it in the final public release, expanding the feature beyond the Galaxy S26, especially since it doesn’t require any additional hardware to work.
While laptops now come with at least a usable webcam, smartphones can provide better video and audio quality thanks to their larger sensors.
Hopefully, wider adoption of this feature will also encourage Google to further improve the USB webcam mode — wireless support and a smoother experience would be nice. The current implementation is pretty simple — you can’t switch between the front and rear cameras.
PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
