Google’s April 2026 Pixel update addresses some annoying bugs

Google has started rolling out the April 2026 update for compatible Pixel phones and tablets. Since the March 2026 update was a Feature Drop that packed several important changes, this month’s version focuses solely on bug fixes.

According to Google’s release notes, the April 2026 Pixel update fixes the underlying issue that was causing games to crash on the Pixel 10 family. It also includes a fix for Quick Share crashing during file transfers on the Pixel 9 and its Pro sibling.

  • Fixed an issue where the quick search bar sometimes disappeared from the home screen under certain conditions*[1]

The fix is ​​available for all supported Pixel devices unless otherwise noted below. Some fixes may be carrier/region specific.

The April 2026 security bulletin does not list any patched vulnerabilities.

Google says the OTA is rolling out starting today and will continue over the next week in stages. If you can’t wait, factory images and OTA ZIP files are also available to sideload. However, this requires you to know how to use ADB and have access to a PC.

The next major update for the Pixel will arrive in June, which will likely be the first stable release of Android 17.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
